One of my fics has been translated to Italian- without my knowledge!!!
I mean, WTF?!?!

I came across this Italian message board, and because I don't speak the language, I didn't understand a word, but they have lots of pics so I checked that out.

They also have a few fanfictions and RPS fics. Just for the hell of it, I thought I'd take a look at those, too, and to my biggest surprise, I found my RPS fic Cumin Boy there. Now please don't judge me that I like RPS fics, I know they're not everyone's cup of tea. :)

So, the fic that I found is called Ragazzo Cumino and even though, like I said, I don't speak Italian, it's pretty obvious even to me that it's my fic. I'm not sure if I should be pissed or feel flattered that someone took the time to translate it. And on top of it all, the person who reposted my fic lists my beta as the author and not me. She even linked to her LJ. Again, WTF?

I wrote an email to the owner of the site, I'm eagerly awaiting her response. I didn't ask her to remove my fic, but I think the least she could do is credit me properly.

	That does suck... but it sounds like you handled it right. I understand why others dislike RPS, but I love it. Kind of a guilty pleassure type of thing... and there is never enough new (good) stuff. I'll have to make time to read Cumin Boy again sometime soon :) (Reply to this) (Thread)

I wouldn't have a problem with the whole thing if she would have contacted me that she would like to post my fic on her site. But even if she didn't, at least she could credit me as the author.

I understand why others dislike RPS, but I love it. Kind of a guilty pleassure type of thing...

It's my guilty pleasure too. ;) And hey, I really liked yours! You should write more. :)

Thanks! Most of my early stuff was RPS and I think it kind of sucked. I've been working on a new RPS for probably longer then a year now... but somehow I never seem to finish it. Probably because I spend all my time over here on IJ now and there isn't as much RPS love over here.

To a fellow RPS lover, let me rec you something. :) Have you read LJ's newyrday78's fics? She stopped posting her fics at galerandylove a long time ago, but I think her stuff is one of the best out there. If you haven't, I think you should check it out.

	Good move. I have about 3 HP fics translated into Italian. Difference is, one of the "translators" at the site emailed me directly and asked for permission. She was very nice, very accomodating, and even sent me the comments, translated! This is how it should be done. (Reply to this)

that would piss me off too.

I get the occasional request to translate my fics. I usually say yes, (unless it's into chinese, in which case, they lose something in the translation and no one seems to get it)

but to translate without permission and then to credit to your beta? That's sad because it means they don't understand english well enough to know who wrote it and who translated it.

I'm italian, and everytime I've translated one fic, I've always asked for the permit of the author, and have given the credit... shame on that stupid people!!! I love your cumin boy, I've always found it funny and tender, you're a great writer!!!!
Don't mind of that moron, they believe to be free of do everything, without respect...I understand you don't know italian, but I can assure you that in their forum, they derespect even Gale and Randy....such a great fans, eh?

Well...I don't like to say this things, but...they have said that Randy is very unkind with the fans (This is the worst lie) and that Gale is not a good actor....they steal fanfictions, wallpapers, icons without give credits to anyone, only when the authors ask fot it, they "sorry, we didn't know it!".
I really don't understand how they didn't credit you the first time, I mean your name is in the summary. I have had a lot of trouble with them, they think that internet is like the Bigq, without have to pay, of course.
I'm sorry for them, because if they keep on this way, someone could be very angry and report them to the authority.
I hope you've understood me, my english today is worst then ever, I'm really tired...bad day!!!

I must admit I'm a little surprised. I don't understand how people can say such things about Gale and Randy and supposedly be their fans or the characters they played? I can't separate the two, I love them as Brian and Justin and as Gale and Randy.

Now the stealing part doesn't surprise me. Some people just don't have manners. Someone recently conntected me and told me that the same thing happened to her as to me, only not with a fic but a graphic. The whole thing is really sad.
